The Long Drag by Kingfisher
This superb film was made in 1963 from footage shot in between 1960 and 1963 by Peter Boocock, a keen film-maker from West Yorkshire. It is a documentary in colour and features an important era on the line when titled trains still ran, hauled by 'Peaks', and steam-hauled freights were still an everyday sight. Also featured are long gone signalboxes such as Ais Gill and Dent Head where engineering works can be seen. The severe winter of 1962/63 is experienced and also the navvy camp sites at Ribblehead.
This film, a 'must' for any S&C enthusiast, won the 'Tenbest' film award for 1963.
